UXO Technician I Course The UXO Technician I course is based on the Department of Labor job position description requirements. The six-week course was developed by InfoPro instructors and is currently through Texas A&M. This is the only commercial unexploded ordnance (UXO) course currently certified by the Department of Defense. Graduation leads to certification as a UXO Technician I. UXO Recognition and Safety The UXO Recognition and Safety training is a three-day course designed for non-technician personnel required to work on or in the vicinity of unexploded ordnance (UXO) contaminated areas. Marked course topics meet the 8-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER Refresher training requirements. This course can be tailored and taught at the client’s site by the Mobile Training Team. Unexploded ordnance (UXO) safety, identification, and hazard mitigation topics derived from the UXO Safety and Recognition course are combined with management level instruction in current EPA, OSHA, and DoD regulations relating to UXO contaminated areas. The course can be tailored to address specific types of problems or sites to be encountering. The OSHA HAZWOPER 8 Hour Refresher Training topics can be taught in conjunction with this class. Course length ranges from three to five days depending upon course topic selections requested by a client and can be taught at the client’s site by a Mobile Training Team. The course is designed to provide knowledge of current UXO detection, identification, and disposal technologies. The three-day course can be taught at the client’s facility by a Mobile Training Team. Course topics: Explosives and Explosive Effects Detection Technology Overview Remediation Technology Overview Risk Management EPA Munitions Rule Overview DoD Range Rule Overview Site Characterization and Hazard Analysis Site Safety and Health Plans Site Management Guidelines/Procedures Contractual Controls and Remedies Oversight of Contractors Qualified Recycling Program The Qualified Recycling Program training course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for oversight personnel to distinguish between hazardous articles and range scrap, and take the necessary disposition actions. The Qualified Recycling Program is required by DODI 4715.4. This course is taught by a Mobile Training Team at the client’s site. Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) The HAZWOPER training course is designed to meet OSHA requirements for personnel employed at hazardous waste sites. The course includes unexploded ordnance (UXO) related topics not traditionally covered by standard HAZWOPER classes. The completion of the class, associated practical exercises, and written test lead to OSHA certification. This course is taught by a Mobile Training Team at the client’s site. The instruction integrates elements of the UXO Technician I, FBI Hazardous Devices, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms Advanced Explosive Investigations course curriculum. The course objective is to provide first responders with the knowledge to recognize and manage situations in which hazardous explosive devices are involved. This course is taught by a Mobile Training Team at the client’s site.
